St. Carlo Acutis

Carlo Acutis was born on the 3rd of May 1991 in London to Italian parents. Carlo grew up in Milan but his love was Assisi due to his devotion to St. Francis, so much so that his parents baught a house in Assisi to use for their annual summer holiday. Carlo was gifted with excellent computer skills which he put to good use by starting a website in which he documented Eucharistic miracles around the globe. This wasn’t the only project Carlo undertook, he also recorded appirations of Our Lady as well as others. Despite his life only lasting 15 years he was able to achieve a high level of  Eucharistic maturity and understanding. From the age of 4, Carlo was very keen on going to Church and encouraged his Mum and Dad – who were not religious – to come to Church on a regular basis. He then began to encourage his fellow students to come to Church too, as well as doing incredible charitable work to help those less fortunate than himself. He was known to have fun but also to stand up to bullies at school. Carlo went to Mass daily since the age of 7 uninterrupted and recited the Rosary daily.

In May 2024 Pope Francais recognised a second miracle attributed to Carlo Acutis, and consequently the Pope approved Carlo’s cannonisation, meaning he was to become the first saint of the 21st century. A date for canonisation was initially set for 27th April 2025 (during the jubilee of teenagers). However, due to the death of Pope Francis on 21st April this was subsequently cancelled. On 13 June 2025 Pope Leo XIV announced a reschedualed date for canonisation for 7th September 2025, along with Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati. This time the canonisation was carried out and he was made a saint in St. Peter’s square on 7th September 2025 by an infalliable statement by Pope Leo XIV.
